The serape or jorongo is an article of clothing worn by men in the field to cover from the cold and rain but it is also used as a blanket, rug or carpet.

This garment is of Mexican origin, although it resembles the poncho used in the Andean region. It mixes pre-Hispanic and Iberian motives; manufactured with thick cotton or wool fibre threads and dyed of various colours.
