Beach Bahia Principe San Juan
Located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, Río San Juan will seduce you for a host of reasons. Its unspoilt beaches, the natural exuberance of its coastal scenery and the ever-friendly character of its inhabitants make this region one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Caribbean. The nearby town of Puerto Plata was one of the earliest European settlements in America, dating back to 1493. Today it retains much of its old colonial charm. The towns of Sosúa and Cabarete are the most popular tourist destinations and offer all the simple delights that are typical of the country’s towns and villages.

Río San Juan, the city the region is named after, has 15,000 inhabitants and has remained essentially unchanged despite the tourist boom, retaining all its old-world charm. Indeed, it is one of the most cheerful spots in the country. The wooden houses are painted in flamboyant colours and locals   extend a warm welcome to the few visitors to the city.

Nature lovers should not miss Laguna Gri Gri, a fantastic landscape of mangroves, with shores lined with the trees that give their name to the lake; here you will have the opportunity to sail through mysterious caverns and sea caves and spot exotic birds. Golf lovers will delight in the Playa Grande, located some 40 minutes from the Hotel. Río San Juan boasts some of the most beautiful beaches of the Dominican Republic, such as Playa Grande: stretching out for over a kilometre, the huge waves make it ideal for surfers. The sea that bathes Playa Caletón is calmer, whilst the shallow waters of the equally stunning Playa Diamante, situated just 20 minutes outside the city, make it the perfect spot for spending the day with the kids.
